The Visit: Dan and MeMy youngest son, Daniel was home for a visit recently. I cleared my schedule so that we could do whatever he wanted. We could swim, kayak, boat or just 'veg' at the cottage but our most memorable day was our trip to town. As we headed the backroads into Arnprior, we had a flat tire. We could have called CAA but no phone (technology does have it's uses). Oh well, we were in no hurry and with a few comical moments and sweat pouring from Dan's face he tackled the job. And a battle it was. Whoever put that tire on last had no intention of it EVER coming off again. With persistence and Dan's 220 pounds behind him, he was eventually successful in loosening the machine tightened lugs. Our first stop once were again mobile was the Diary Queen.
As our visit progresses, I learned that my boy is working an unfathomable number of hours. He is the head chef at The Cello Supper Club in London, Ontario and is so swamped with work that it has been two years since he was home. I begin my lectures of his need to find balance in his life. Time for work, time for play, time for friends, time for ME. Daniel reminds me that in high school my lectures were about getting up off of the couch as I was sure he was studying to become a master SLUG. Times have changed.
The Visit
Life is all about balance. Sometimes things run smoothly and sometimes they don't. Now that I have survived the summer of 'techno hell', I am due for the opposite end of the balance pendulum.....things going smoothly. With my new smokin Dell, I can even install a program that I won at a photographers convention last year, Corel Paint. It is an amazing software that will allow me to paint my images. OOOh, I am a Micelangelo in the making. I will need to balance my work time with my study time to learn this program and to create the painting that I have in mind.
Until then
.
