I have been in ‘slug mode’ for two whole weeks. I haven’t cooked a dinner, made a bed, dealt with clients or hardly even touched my computer. My sweetie and I have been on holidays, and I have surprised myself at how well suited I am at being a slug. I am a natural!!! And it took me over ½ of a century to find that out.
Of course, I did give two presentations on the cruise ship, one on the Cayman Islands and the other on the Seductive Sea. It was so cool, to be sharing my knowledge, 
photography and enthusiasm with other guests on our luxurious ship and because I had prepared the presentations before we left, it didn’t disrupt my relaxed mind set. I spent the cruise ‘shooting’ just for me, making new friends, swimming with the sting rays and tubing down a Jamaican river. Life is good!
When we returned to the mainland, we then received an EXPANDING education by spending a few days in South Beach, Miami. This is a young people’s paradise with the night life, bars, bands and babes being as impressive as the day time life of beaches, shopping and babes. I swear that the high heels that are sold in South Beach should be called ‘earthquake heels’ because if women were to fall from such a height they could cause a massive earthquake.
The impressive topless sunbathers on the beach were only outdone by me…..the middle-aged woman doing her yoga on the beach in modest swim wear. No self consciousness here, I knew that I wasn’t been gawked at. There are benefits to maturing….we become anonymous and that is actually freeing. The wisdom of the ages has taught me that it is not all about me (or anyone else.)
As is always the case, the best part about holidays is getting home. I am so grateful for all we have: not having to worry about where our next meal is coming from, having rewarding work, purpose in life and healthy relationships. Getting away helps me to appreciate life and now that I have mastered slug hood, I feel refreshed and ready to take on the next creative project. If only I can get my engine started!
