Giving Back

My philosophy in life is to leave this planet a better place in whatever way I can by contributing my talents to help others. I do this in a few ways. Garlough Photo has been involved with the Juvenile Diabetes Society by not only providing regional campaign images but also a national poster. Fund raising for The Juvenile Diabetes Society through an annual contest portraying babies has been an on going event. Babies with the chubbiest cheeks, the nicest smile, the brightest eyes, the most angelic and the most mischievous have been celebrated for ten years in Renfrew County. It has been my priviledge to support our next generation in the flight against this rising disease.

In addition, I am a volunteer for a women's shelter- The Bernadette McCann House. For years, I have helped in repatterning programs and co facilitated a self esteem program. This is an on going committment for me as abuse is not acceptable. Only through understanding, communication and zero tolerance will we make a change of equality, respect and growth. It is in humanity's interest to have boundaries in place and to respect and listen to female wisdom. I believe that we can teach what we need to learn and this cause has my time, energy, talent and focus.

I am also active in supporting the environment by not only implementing the need for going "green" but by also spreading the word. Through speaking, presentations and personal passion I am doing my part to raise awareness of this magical and mystical planet called earth. It is, after all, our home.
