Have you ever been involved in a project that you are totally enlisted in, you believe in and you are excited about? Isn’t it funny how time and energy become available when we are ‘charged’ about a project. The creative juices begin to flow and hours pass but it only seems like minutes. You are pumped and your enthusiasm becomes infectious. It is a wondrous place to be.
A year ago, I was involved in such a project (certainly not dishwashing). I had the opportunity to brain storm, photograph and design a poster celebrating International Women’s Day. Working with the board of directors at The Bernadette McCann House, we wanted to portray women's strength, capabilities, loving kindness, and spirit. The current of ideas began to flow and I was energized. Immediately, I began thinking of the women I know and discovered that I know a lot of remarkable women. I know capable women that I aspire to become more like. I also know selfless women that I want to ‘grow up’ to become. There are women who rise from the ashes of a tough life but still with a gentle heart. Or who has little, but makes the best of it with a cheerful attitude. I know women with such gusto for life that they refresh me. I even know women as crazy as me!
Other women are driven by a cause to continually improve the conditions of all women. They recognize the importance of Western women to step forward as leaders on the world stage. And unlike in my mother’s day we now have the door opening for our input. I have no doubt that women have the ability, the caring and the energy to add to this planet.
I herald all such women are champions! The World is a much better place because of women.
Join the World on March 8 to celebrate International Women’s Day
Until then
